London, UK - Brian Haw, the anti-war protester who has maintained a highly-visible vigil outside the Houses of Parliament for four years, yesterday won his latest legal battle against efforts to evict him.
The High Court ruled that legislation introduced to control demonstrations around the Houses of Parliament could not be applied to the 56-year-old campaigner.
The new rules, effective from August 1, require anyone seeking to demonstrate in the area to have authorisation when the demonstration starts. But Mr Haw's lawyers noted his demonstration had begun four years ago, and thus he did not need to apply for authorisation.
