Israel is deeply involved in spying in Iran. One of 13 Iranian Jews confessed to being a trained intelligence agent.

The trial is being held in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Court.

A senior judiciary official announced that one of the suspects, Hamid "Dani" Tefilin, had confessed to cooperating with the Israeli secret service Mossad. In an interview on Iranian state television, Tefilin said he was part of a network that was trying to collect information to be sent to Israel.

"I have been accused of espionage for Israel. I do accept this charge. I have been spying for Israel," Tefilin said. "In my trip to Israel in 1994, I was trained for my activity in Iran."
